Sass Second-NPHS February News

After our hint of spring weather last week, it gives us hope that spring is on the way.  It’s nice to see the sunshine and let’s hope the snow stays away.   Our community suffered a tragic loss of a student on January 23rd.  This community really stepped up and showed another reason why NPUSC is an awesome corporation.  The NPHS family  wants to thank our law enforcement, area clergy, counselors, EMT and families for offering assistance during our tough times.  Our students came together and will continue to keep the memory of Mark alive.  Be Kind sums up Mark and we will continue to live by those words in honor of him.

The Seniors ROCKED the Attendance competition this semester.  They were rewarded with a movie and snacks. We appreciate the students who make attendance a priority.  Building good attendance habits now transfer to good attendance in future careers.  Students who are planning on attending the prom must have 90% attendance during 2nd semester to attend.

The ISTEP+ is Coming!  All sophomores will be tested on February 28th-March 3rd for Part 1.   Passing these tests will be a  graduation requirement for the Class of 2019.  We will continue to prepare a “well rounded” young adult having the skills to be successful beyond high school and meeting this state mandated benchmark is one step closer!  Please take time to discuss the importance of this test with your student.

All sophomores and juniors who plan to take the SAT this year.  We offer FREE test prep classes. We are offering two different time sessions to work around our students busy schedules!

SAT Prep
Tuesdays & Thursdays
                       Feb. 21st – March 9th from 2:30-4:00 p.m. and 5:30-7:00 p.m. (CST)
Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, February 15th
Also, we offer extra help for English, Math, Social Studies and Science for ALL students Monday through Thursdays 2:30-3:30.

Reminder to seniors:  You must be passing ALL graduation required courses on May 26, 2017 to participate in our graduation ceremony on June 4, 2017.  If a senior fails a graduation required course first semester, he/she was enrolled in the class again during 2nd semester. Some seniors have PLATO class requirements that must be completed, as well.  It is very important our seniors take advantage of in school and out of school time to complete these requirements.  We do not want them to miss out on our graduation ceremony.    Seniors who have PLATO class requirements and are not progressing will be invited to after school work sessions to complete the requirement.  Please don’t wait until it’s too late!

As always, join us at NPHS showcasing our students’ talents-check out our calendar.
